Tyler Reddick's Leads to the JRM Charge at the Roval at Charlotte

1Concord, North Carolina (09/29/18) - Tyler Reddick, driver of the No. 9 BurgerFi Chevrolet, ran inside the top 10 throughout much of Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway, earning extremely valuable stage points at the end of both Stage One and Two before ultimately taking the checkered flag in the ninth position. The result is Reddick’s 15th top-10 finish of 2018 and moves the JR Motorsports driver to the third seed in the NXS Playoffs, 21 points above the cutline with one race remaining before the playoff field is cut to eight following next weekend’s event at Dover International Speedway.

Reddick rolled off for the 55-lap event at the unique Roval from the third position after advancing to the final round of knockout qualifying on Saturday morning.  In an opening stage slowed only once for a lap 2 caution period, the driver of the BurgerFi Chevrolet maintained his top-three track position and took the green-and-white checkered flag on lap 15 in third. The stage result earned Reddick eight valuable stage points in the process.

During the stage-ending caution, crew chief Dave Elenz called the Corning, Calif. native to pit road for four tires and a slight adjustment. Following the stop, Reddick returned to the track for the beginning of Stage Two in the seventh position as several cars opted to stay out after pitting just prior to the end of Stage One. Once back underway, Reddick methodically worked his way forward, rejoining the top five on lap 23 and ultimately racing back up to the third position by the completion of the caution-free second stage on lap 30.  The stage result once again earned Reddick an additional eight valuable stage points.

Prior to the beginning of the final stage, Reddick once again came back down pit road for four tires and an adjustment. However, due to a variety of pit strategies, Reddick lined up for the ensuing restart on lap 33 in the 15th position. A quick caution following the restart saw Reddick improve four positions after narrowly avoiding a multi-car incident heading into the first corner. The driver of the BurgerFi Chevrolet’s climb forward didn’t stop there as Reddick took advantage of a lap 36 restart to move back into the top 10 and up to the sixth position before the caution flag was displayed once again on lap 40.   When the race went back to green on lap 44, Reddick was trapped on the outside line and shuffled back to the eighth position.

In the closing laps, Reddick would battle with Kaz Grala and Daniel Hemric before taking the checkered flag in the ninth position. The result moves the JRM driver to 21 points above the cutline with one race remaining in the Round of 12.

Chase Briscoe earned the victory with Justin Marks, Austin Cindric, Ryan Preece and Christopher Bell rounding out the top five.

“We did what we needed to do today with our BurgerFi Chevrolet. It was a really good day overall and I really want to thank my team for their hard work throughout this weekend. We were able to be mistake free today and get some stage points which definitely helped put us in a better position heading into Dover next weekend. We had a good run last time in Dover, so that gives us some high hopes heading into next weekend. We’re ready to get after it.”
