The Tyler Reddick Motorsports program rolled into Linton Indiana to pick up a Friday night race as the summer season is slowly starting to wind down.  The POWRi Racing Series has been off the last two weekends allowing time for drivers to travel to some of the other area tracks for racing.  Next week POWRi resumes it summer series by visiting Belle-Clair Speedway in Illinois.

Meeting up with Tom Spain of VP Racing Fuels and his wonderful family, The Reddick’s and Spain’s teamed up to ready the chassis for the Bakersfield Speedway.

On hand were many of their normal local racers and for the first time we found Willy Sylvester to be in attendance and ready to race.  Willy just won an Indiana 10 races series held by three or 4 different tracks to make a small traveling series.  Willy is a very talented PMP Chassis driver and is no stranger to the winners circle in POWRi and Indiana mini-sprint racing.

Format for the night would be straight up racing starting with qualifying, heats and main events.

Our Stan Yockey prepared PMP Chassis was hooked up from the beginning and on a night where qualifying lap times were some 3 tenths faster than any other night, the “California Kid” put his VP Racing Fuels, Broken Bow Records, Gordon Seros racing machine in first place honors setting fast time. The qualifying time may be a track record!

The Kid then took to the heat race and put his foot on the loud pedal and checked out on the field and in just 10 short laps was about to start lapping the field.  Checkered flag was out and only one more race in the open outlaw mini sprint division and the kid could go perfect on the night.

VP Racing Fuels has many types of fuels for your racing.  Many people think that racing fuel is always a hot fuel.  There are many fuels that you can purchase to fit your different uses in different types of racing.  For our racing we use just the normal pure alcohol that has no special additives.  But it is pure high quality alcohol and not mixed with any re-claimed fuel.  Tyler Reddick Motorsports likes quality in every corner of our racing program.  VP Racing Fuels delivers that commitment to us and Tyler recommends that you keep it on hand as your own fuel for your racing.  “You never know what you’re running through your motor when you purchase it at the track!” said Tyler’s Crew Chief.

As the full field of Open Outlaws took to the track there was only concern, had we kept the car’s setup up to the track changes.  In the opening lap on the start that question was answered as Tyler’s PMP Chassis hooked up and set sail out front with Willy Sylvester in 2nd.  The remainder of the field was settling in distant to Willy.

The Kid rocketed off out front and stretched his lead to nearly a full straight-a-way over Sylvester and started lapping traffic.  As the race started to wind down Tyler started to take advantage of his big lead and moved more carefully through the lappers.  Willy was up on the wheel and making a little distance up when in a saddle between lappers.  Still well in the lead and while just passing another lapper with clean track Tyler was starting to again add to his lead.  The white flag few and with one more round the “California Kid” would be perfect for the first time in Mini Sprint racing.  Tyler has had many other perfect nights in his past racing but this is his rookie year in Mini Sprints and the prospect of going perfect on the night was real exciting!

Coming to the checkered flag you could tell the kid was already celebrating as he swagged his car down the straight crossing the checkered flag for the win!!.

I know Tyler really wanted do some great doughnuts out in the center of the track for the fans but Tyler wasn’t sure as to how the officials would take it, so better to save that celebration for another day.

Tyler wishes to take everyone helping with his race program from Brian “Lugo” back at the PMP Chassis shop who always gets my stuff out here in time for my car,  Gordon Seros is always ready and takes care of my every motor need,  Stan Yockey for believing in me and giving me the very best racecar available, VP Racing Fuels for bringing me on board their racer’s support program,  Broken Bow Records & Jason Alden and family for all your wonderful support, WSiB MotorSports Insurance, Laura is always in my court and keeps all our race program equipment and cars protected.  Thanks goes out to Brodrix’s as well for your support. Lastly, I wish to really thank my mom and dad for all their hard work and commitment to my racing, my sister Haley, I just can’t say enough about you being there for me and supporting my racing!

Tyler

Next up is back to Marion Illinois for the SIR weekly show on their high bank near oval track.  This track is awesome fast and hard to tame for entire race.  There is no time to relax on this track and it takes every driver to task every race.  It always brings multi groove racing and is fun to watch!  See you there…
